District 7
For Dane County Board
Vote Tuesday, April 6, 2010
Working with Us,
Working for us!
WSJ Letter to the Editor (3/30/10) Veldran has never let us down, and we expect more of the same first-rate representation that's made Matt and his family good neighbors, and has made him an excellent supervisor. - Jackie Captain and Michael Leon, Fitchburg
We support the re-election of Matt Veldran to the Dane County Board, District 7.
Veldran, our neighbor, is dedicated to preserving the quality of life that has made this community a paradise to live. His commitment to the safety of our neighborhood and his dedication to reaching out to all of our district's residents have earned him our support.
The Capital Times Endorsement (3/27/10):
On a board where most supervisors work hard, Matt Veldran works harder. He is one of the most engaged players on a variety of committees. He currently serves on the Public Works and Transportation Committee (as vice chair), the Energy Task Force Committee, the University Extension Committee, the Cultural Affairs Commission, the Specialized Transportation Commission and the Youth Commission.
With a hand in all the board’s business, Veldran is able to deliver for his constituents on Madison’s southwest side. He has worked successfully to make sure that sheriff’s deputies continue to drive through southwest side neighborhoods as part of a broader plan to enhance neighborhood policing. He has protected Joining Forces for Families positions for those neighborhoods and Fitchburg, extended the job training program to at-risk teens in the area, and helped to get alcohol and drug prevention and intervention programs awarded to Toki Middle School for students and their families.
On a board where most supervisors work hard, . He is one of the most engaged players on a variety of committees. He currently serves on the Public Works and Transportation Committee (as vice chair), the Energy Task Force Committee, the University Extension Committee, the Cultural Affairs Commission, the Specialized Transportation Commission and the Youth Commission.
Challenger Mike Thomsen wants the board to be “focusing on core services such as public safety, children at risk, seniors and others who need our help and (repairing) bad roads.” Those are sound priorities; in fact, they are Veldran’s priorities. Far from making an argument for replacing the incumbent, Thomsen’s highlighting of these priorities builds the case for re-electing Veldran.
